I’ve tried to keep politics out of my career (and off my website), but politics doesn’t stay where it’s told. Lately, with ICE, it feels impossible to ignore. What we’re seeing goes beyond policy—it’s a direct challenge to the foundations of democracy. When armed, poorly trained, quasi-militarized forces are turned loose on civilian communities to carry out the will of the current administration, something is deeply wrong. How many lives must be unjustly destroyed in plain sight before we decide to stand up? If you doubt we’re living in a modern military state, spend time in an immigrant community in any major city and simply pay attention. The fear is real. This is a devastating place for our country to be. We are better than this. Our leadership is not—and I hope that failure is temporary. The next election matters. Vote.
