I’ve known Melissa Banks for over two decades, and I’m fortunate to have not only witnessed her journey but also called her a friend along the way. Over nearly as long, I’ve had the pleasure of helping her with aspects of her branding for her custom jewelry business, Rapt in Maille. Recently, she reached out with a special request: to create a 25th-anniversary graphic celebrating a quarter-century of her company’s creativity, craftsmanship, and independence. The design found its way across her social campaigns, website, and even onto a fun commemorative t-shirt—small tokens of a milestone well worth marking. While I don’t work with Melissa regularly, every collaboration feels effortless—as though no time has passed since the last project. We just “get each other.” And it’s easy to admire her: she’s an exceptionally talented chainmaille and jewelry artist, a savvy businesswoman, and an impressively driven individual. So, here’s my heartfelt shout-out to Melissa—not just for the artistry and dedication she brings to her craft, but for 25 years of being her own boss, steering her own ship, and building a life on her terms. Running a women-operated business comes with highs, lows, and all the minutiae in between, yet she has navigated it all with skill and determination. Congratulations, Melissa—here’s to the next 25 years of creativity, success, and independence! Check out her work here.
