Herb Alpert (born March 31, 1935) is an American trumpeter who led the band Herb Alpert & the Tijuana Brass in the 1960s. During the same decade, he co-founded A&M Records with Jerry Moss. I was first made aware of his music and unique sound when I was very young and my grandparents and their friends played his albums during "happy hours". His music is heavily influenced by the Mariachi sound from Mexico with a notable jazz infusion. I'm almost certain you'd recognize a tune or two of his, as they have been used in advertising, tv shows, and movies many times over. There is a new documentary on his life out now on Amazon Prime called "Herb Alpert is...". I highly recommend it as it'll transport you back to a simpler time when his music ruled the airwaves.
