Growing up in the 1980s and liking art, I was easily influenced by pop art super heroes like Keith Haring. His super identifiable line art style and iconographic symbols makes his work unique and simple. However, don't let the "fun" style sway you. His subject matter was many times very serious and culturally heavy — taking on topics such as Aids, drug abuse in the inner cities, racism and much more. He also liked music and parties, and used nightlife subjects such as records, djs, dancing and having a good time as topics in his work as well.
